About Me

Hello! Welcome to my site.  My name is Alyssa Cotten. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Chemical Dependency Counselor specializing in individual and couples therapy with anxiety, PTSD, co-dependency, dual diagnosis, addiction, as well as several others. I am a strong ally and advocate for the LGBTQ community, providing a safeguarded therapy space.

I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I studied community counseling with a focus on trauma and couples therapy.  Since graduating, I have been practicing in the state of Alaska, serving a broad spectrum of clients.

My passion is to assist in the healing process of deep rooted issues people may be facing. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. By integrating complementary methodologies and techniques, I am able to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

I am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), a therapy treatment that helps allow the mind to heal from past trauma and abuse. This allows me to work within a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they are seeking.
